getting it together
So it begins…
As it tends to do, stress clouded the remainder of 2008, so I’m beginning 2009 with a fresh and happy start. I’m still right around 260 pounds and I haven’t been exercising like I said I would have. However, it’s a New Year, now and a New Rachael soon.
One big change that’s caused me to get some exercise is my car’s slow descent into inoperability. The trusty Volvo is in an import shop not far from my house and has been there for over a week. I thought by taking it to a shop that displayed Hanukkah decorations instead of Christmas decorations, I’d be more likely to get it finished before the new year. Apparently not! (I explained my decorations-inspired scheme to my mother right after I dropped the car off, so now I get an almost daily voicemail from her asking for updates: “Have the Jews called?”) No, Mom, the Jews have not called.
So, without a car, I walk everywhere or take the new Phoenix Light Rail. This has been good exercise, but not great exercise. Because I’m not working right now and I’m constantly doing schoolwork, my sleep schedule tends to be a bit… erratic. Yesterday on New Year’s Eve I went to bed at about 3:00 AM, which is standard for my life right now. The last thing I had before falling asleep yesterday was a mug of hot chocolate, and I woke up this morning ready to start anew. The FoodFeed (off to the right of this entry on newrachael.com) will be updated with everything I eat, whenever I’m eating it.
Thank you to all of you for your patience while the site was down for about a month. Unfortunately, web hosting isn’t free and I’m a little bit broke right now. (Not poor, as Dick Gregory would say, just broke.) Now we’re back, up and running, and I’m ready to lose weight and feel better in 2009!
Who’s with me?
